THE owner of a six sided cardboard box, which comes with its own sleeping blanket and roll of duct tape, has placed it on the market for €1.7mn after receiving expressions of interest in the property.

Thomas Durney believes that the timing is now right to sell on, given the rapidly improving economic climate, the positive outlook for residential property in the area and the significant feedback he has been getting from potential buyers looking for that special place among the stars.

“I have to go away for a few years, so there is no point paying someone to maintain it while I’m gone,” he told WWN during an exclusive tour of the prestigious property. “It comes with all the features you’d expect, including a spy-hole, pillow for your head and movable flaps to close during the winter”.

The 12 square meter home, which was entered into Irish property website daft.ie late last night, is plush, warm and homely. It’s mostly Georgian and Victorian in its layout and style and spans across a disused doorway at the heart of Dalkey village and can easily fit a family of three inside it. Cable ties secure the property which is south facing.

The minimalist design reflects Thomas’ own lifestyle: “You just can’t fit all that much stuff in it, but who needs stuff anyway? Sure, ya can’t take it with you when you’re dead. This would be perfect for anyone who’s not materialistic”.

Local estate agency Cahill and Sons have been appointed to manage the sale of the cardboard box, which is located only 2 minutes away from the nearest car-parking meter.

“There’s also a bunch of really good food bins at the back of the Queens and the Dart line is only two seconds away if you get sick of it all”.
