KING Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud of Saudi Arabia has wowed onlookers the world over after cleverly turning a broken down golden escalator into a stairs in just a matter of seconds after it malfunctioned yesterday evening at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport.

Using only the power of his own legs, the genius king slowly put one foot in front of the other much to the utter amazement of everyone watching him disembark his private plane.

“For a minute there I thought this could turn into an international disaster,” a source at the airport told WWN, “luckily the kings quick thinking saved the day by him simply treating the elevator like a normal old stairs.

“It was a moment of pure genius and everyone looking on just gasped with amazement as he calmly placed his foot down onto the next step, one after another – I’ll never forget it”.

Travelling with a 1,500-strong entourage, two Mercedes Benzes and 459 tonnes of luggage, the Saudi King was not going to let the incident ruin his trip to Russia, stating that he didn’t even think about it that much at the time.

“I figured that even though the escalator stopped moving, it could still be used like a stairs,” the modest 81-year-old later told the Russian press, “I’ve always been a troubleshooter. For instance, when all those Saudi women started giving out about not being allowed to drive cars, I just told them they could and the problem went away”.

In the first official visit of a Saudi monarch to Russia, King Salman met with President Vladimir Putin and signed a slew of billion dollar arms and energy deals, not that any of that stuff matters.
