AS the growing energy crisis threatens rolling blackouts and a dependency on energy sourced from overseas (much of it derived from nuclear sources to begin with), the contentious question over whether or not Ireland should adopt nuclear power as its main source of energy has cropped up again.

So what do you say? Surely a government that could successfully handle proposed building of 10 miles of a metro rail link, the green lighting of a national broadband scheme that promises to one day be highly alright, the ongoing construction of the most expensive children’s hospital in the world, the completely above board handling of a mobile phone licence and the successful annual transfer of millions of taxpayers money to private companies for the provision of detainment of asylum seekers can handle one little nuclear power station, right?
