WE HAVE mega news for all you mega Stranger Things fans out there!

By now most of you Upsider Downers will have feasted your eyes on the teaser trailer for season 2 of Netflix’s smash hit show which aired during the Superbowl on Sunday.

But WWN has more info on what’s to come, and we’re not exaggerating when we say things are really taken up a notch for round 2!

“We just thought, what if Trainspotting happened to a bunch of 12-year-olds,” Matt Duffer, co-creator of the series explained to WWN.

“The gang has just lost a dear friend in Eleven and gone through so much. Couple that fact with living in a neglected town in a 1980s America where jobs and opportunities are limited, they get caught up with the wrong crowd and plunge that needle in their arms to numb the pain,” Ross Duffer, co-creator added.

While some fans will be taken aback by the tone and themes of season 2, the creators feel that the storyline is just a natural progression.

“We spent 6 weeks in the writer’s room trying to figure out what was more scary than the Upside Down, and we realised getting Will, Lance, Mike and Dustin hooked on heroin, that is literally the only other option,” the Duffers confirmed.

Details on possible future seasons remain scant, however, some show insiders confirm that by season 8, the then adult characters will have moved to New York and begun turning tricks.
