SENIOR members of the Fianna Fáil party have admitted that a former member who has pleaded guilty to soliciting someone to murder a member of An Garda Síochána and two other people isn’t even close to being the worst member the party has ever had.

“Ah jaysus, not this discussion again,” a surly Micheál Martin said in response to WWN’s questioning before a party spokesman intervened.

“That’s a stupid debate to open up, he may have tried to kill someone, but c’mon, you know well the slimy fuckers we’ve called members,” the spokesman confirmed.

While it is believed the party annually votes in private to decide who is the worst ever member of the party, it is thought ex-councillor Gary O’Flynn isn’t even in the top 10.

“It’s a high bar we have in this party,” explained TD Willie O’Dea, “you can’t just go around trying to get people killed and think you’ll automatically make the party’s top 10 worst list. It’s a lot harder than that”.

Many members of the voting public appear to agree with the assessment of senior party members.

“Ah yeah, I think it’d be unfair on a fella to lump him in with Bertie, Cowen and the rest just because he went about trying to get someone killed,” offered Louth man Adrian O’Brien.

“It’s a lot to live up to, if you end up being voted the worst ever member, just imagine the strokes you’d have to pull to win?” Laura Henderson, a Sligo native added.

Fianna Fáil changed the title of their ‘Best Ever Member’ award to what we now know as their ‘Worst Ever Member’ award after public opinion massively swung in favour of opposition parties in 2007.
