A LOCAL contrarian has suddenly and sensationally spoken out against Martin McDonagh’s critically acclaimed ‘The Banshees Of Inisherin’ on the occasion of the movie receiving eight Golden Globe nominations.

“Never cared for it, a bit too predictable if you ask me,” said Colm Canning, who weeks ago was so enamoured with the movie he was begging friends to go see it with him a second time even offering to pay for their tickets.

However, such is Canning’s unshakeable contrary bollocks tendencies he has performed a u-turn after deeming the movie a little too well liked now if anything.

“I stood alone after seeing it on its opening night, I was special. I could lord it over everyone, scoffing that they hadn’t seen this gem of a film. But now it’s on its way out of the cinema and on the awards circuits I need something else to make me feel superior so I said feck it, I’ll pretend to hate it, sure I always disliked it,” explained Canning, picking up steam.

“It’s not even historically accurate, no one had hair as good as Colin Farrell’s back then either. No, I can’t believe people rave about this film. Don’t get me started on the donkey, only an auld gimmick”.

Canning said he hoped the film went on to pick up Oscar nominations too as that way he could stretch out his latest attention seeking opinion for months.

In event of discourse around the film petering out, Canning has confirmed he has a back-up contrary opinion about how puppies aren’t horrible little things altogether that should get a reaction.
