THE closeknit community of Castleknock has paid tribute to one of its most famous sons with the unveiling of a new plaque, WWN can exclusively reveal.

Hollywood actor Colin Farrell was the guest of honour in his home town as Castleknock unveiled a commemorative plaque on the site where he first fingered the box off some young one, when aged just 14.

“Fond memories, it’s actually all coming flooding back to me now, two or maybe it was just the one finger,” a visibly emotional Farrell told the large crowd which had gathered to honour him.

“We just wanted to honour Colin in any way possible before everyone starts loving him again once True Detective starts up again, and his heartbreaking antics are the stuff of local legend,” Castleknock business man Eddie Nealon told WWN.

The plaque which reads ‘on this site in 1990 Colin Farrell fingered a young one for the very first time’ takes up residence just meters away from St. Brigid’s Church in Castleknock and is expected to become a real draw for tourists in the coming years, boosting the local economy by an estimated €1 million this year alone.

“Ah jaysus, no way,” Farrell said as the plaque committee revealed a secret guest of honour – Theresa Kennedy the lucky recipient of Farrell’s fingers all those years ago. “Theresa!”

“God, I remember it like yesterday, remember you bought me a Choc Ice afterwards and everything, I was mad for the ride, but you said we should wait,” Theresa recalled to warm applause from the crowd.

Castleknock amateur dramatics society have confirmed they will carry out recreations of the incident over the summer months, on the hour every hour, for more information visit fingeredbyfarrell.com
