Since the weather was a huge impediment to people enjoying this morning’s solar eclipse, Astronomy Ireland have confirmed they will put on a second showing again tomorrow morning from 10am. Free entry for students, the unemployed and OAPs.

LAOIS

Ireland’s first landlocked surfing competition takes place in Coolrain at the Laois Angling Centre. Prizes will be awarded to absolutely any surfer who can get any momentum going with a bonus for standing upright on your board. Entry to the competition is €237.59.

WATERFORD

To celebrate Waterford being twinned with Baghdad, an open air cinema will screen several movies which denounce America and the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Entry is free for all Waterford and Baghdad natives.

DUBLIN

Ireland’s annual post-Paddy’s Day clean up continues in earnest this weekend as members of the public are invited to chase the remaining American tourists out of the city all the way to Dublin airport. Entry is free but participants must bring their own sticks.

WICKLOW

A huge casting call is under way for the new series of television show ‘Vikings’. Casting directors are looking for as many as 8,000 extras. To avail of this exciting opportunity the producers have put on a series of real life battles in which the victorious members of the public will then be put forward for a part in the show. Producers have stressed participants must be willing to kill. Entry is free.
