Man Who Died ‘Named Nationally’ In News First

A LOCAL man who died in an accident yesterday has shattered long-standing tradition by becoming the first person in Irish media history to be named nationally, WWN reports.

Family members of Martin Ryan, 67, decided to break with the customary convention of naming him locally, elevating Ireland’s obsession with reporting deaths to unprecedented heights.

“We said feck it, let’s give Dad a proper send-off and announce his name to not just the surrounding area, but to the entire nation instead,” daughter Theresa told WWN.

News outlets across the country hailed the family’s groundbreaking choice, plastering Martin Ryan across front pages and sparking speculation this could mark a new era in Irish obituary reporting.

“We may be a long way from it yet, but Martin has paved the way for future dead people to be named internationally,” predicted Mossey Keaton, editor of the Portlaw Tribune. “With advances in space travel, it’s not unthinkable that in a hundred years or so we’ll be naming the deceased intergalactically.”

To commemorate the milestone, Waterford County Council erected a plaque outside the Ryan home, enshrining Martin Ryan’s name into history and setting a precedent for generations to come: dead people, no matter how insignificant or inconsequential, may now be openly named.
