Mr Blobby Praised For His Bravery On Tommy Tiernan Show
MR BLOBBY has been widely praised for his courage and vulnerability following an emotional appearance on The Tommy Tiernan Show last Saturday, during which the former children’s entertainer opened up about his struggles for the first time in what many are describing as “the most heartbreaking interview of the year.”
Blobby, who has largely stayed out of the public eye since the late 1990s, arrived on set visibly nervous but composed, and within minutes had reduced host Tommy Tiernan to a stumped silence.
“Blobby!” Blobby blobbed, sparking a wave of blobbery tears as Tommy consoled the pink 7-foot pink and yellow polka-dot icon from an era gone by.
Over the course of forty minutes, Blobby shared what it was like being typecast and the difficulty of being reduced to a single word and not really knowing who Blobby was outside of the noise.
“Blobby!” Blobby broke down when asked about Noel Edmonds, hinting at years of coercive control in one of the most toxic networks the world has ever seen, BBC children’s entertainment.
“For the first time in his career, Mr Blobby didn’t perform and simply sat there and was honest. It was, unexpectedly, devastating,” said one television critic writing in the Irish Times this morning.
Social media reaction was immediate and overwhelming, with #BlobbyOnTommy trending nationally by 9:45pm, and thousands of viewers sharing clips of the more emotional moments alongside captions such as “This broke me”, “I was not prepared for this”, “What the actual fuck?” and “RTÉ really pulled it out of the bag this time.”
Blobby did not comment further after the show, leaving through a side entrance accompanied by a publicist. He said nothing. He did not need to. Leaving everyone with just one single word on their mind.
“Blobby.”
