Everton To Retire No.23 Jersey, Entire Club As Mark Of Respect To Seamus Coleman
SEAMUS COLEMAN announced he is to end his playing career with Everton at the end of the season, prompting die hard Toffee fans and Irish supporters reporting the presence of dust-heavy winds blowing directly into their eyes, WWN can reveal.
The club he spent 17 seasons at immediately issued a statement outlining the measures they are taking to honour their club captain, which some have said is ‘entirely the right move’ while others have labeled it ‘a bit much’.
“Clubs often look to retiring the number of a long serving player and we’re no different but we’ve decided to go the extra mile for Seamus,” confirmed Everton’s owners the Friedkin Group as they confirmed the club would retire the no.23 jersey and always retire every other aspect of the club’s operations as a mark of respect to Coleman’s exemplary service.
Signed for Everton for just £60,000 (€75,000,000 when adjusted for inflation and current market), Coleman made 434 apperances for the club.
“When Messi left Barcelona many said they’d never see a better player, there was a sense that the club reached a peak and we’re of the same mind with our dogged right back who took absolutely no shit, so why bother going on next season,” confirmed a club official as he began the winding down of the club’s operations, placing the club shop’s stock, along with the The Hill Dickinson Stadium, on the club’s Vinted account.
In addition to playing for Everton, Coleman also represents his national team Ireland, making the 37-year-old uniquely cursed in footballing terms but he carried on regardless.
