Well, There Goes Local Man’s Childhood
“AND I was only just fully over processing the trauma from watching Mufasa die in the cinema when I was 8. Now I’m going to have to start all over again”.
The words of local man 38-year-old Darren O’Carroll, reacting to the passing of owner of the world’s most iconic voice James Earl Jones.
Like many fans of movies and pop culture, O’Carroll was both greatly scarred by and thoroughly terrified of Jones thanks to the actor’s iconic portrayal of Mufusa and Darth Vader, among many other iconic roles, having an indelible effect on his life.
“I even put on a Mufasa voice and say ‘you deliberately disobeyed me’ when my kid is acting the prick, and then I pretend to force choke cunts who cut me off in traffic, this death hits different,” explained O’Carroll adding Jones is the man who played Thulsa Doom in Conan the fucking Barbarian, what a legend!
Wearing out not one but two copies of The Empire Strikes Back during his youth, O’Carroll’s favourite bit of pop culture trivia includes the fact Jones had a stutter as a child and was largely mute until his teens.
“Coming to America, the Simpsons montage of his voices in the clouds c’mon, shit,” added O’Carroll who should really get back to work but easily has another 30 minutes of James Earl Jones based admiration in his back pocket.
