Man With Interview For Kingspan Reminds Self Not To Ask Them About Their ‘Dishonest & Cynical’ Part In Grenfell Fire Which Killed 72 People
PUTTING ASIDE all thoughts of being repulsed by the very idea of associating himself with a company with blood on its hands in the case of the 72 people who died in the Grenfell Tower fire, local man Alan McCreddlin badly needs a job and he’s down to the last four for a job with Kingspan.
“Now remember Alan, when you go in there, keep the small talk very small, don’t say something like ‘would any of you been involved in the ‘systemic dishonesty’ that produced ‘false’ fire safety claims so you could put flammable cladding into buildings, including Grenfell Tower, only for it to result in the deaths of 72 people’,” McCreddlin said, coaching himself in the toilets of Kingspan offices in Cavan.
Mindful of the fact he can sometimes accidentally sabotage his chances in interviews by speaking first, thinking second, McCreddlin tried to rid his mind of the fact Kingspan directors cashed in on £6mn worth of share options before the claims about the firm’s involvement in Grenfell became public knowledge.
“And whatever you do Alan, don’t casually ask if anyone directly knows Philip Heath, the Divisional Business Development Director with Kingspan, who said in an email that building consultants who raised fire safety concerns can ‘go fuck themselves’. And told a firm that questioned the suitability of Kingspan production on a high rise block that they must have him ‘confused with someone who gives a damn’,” added McCreddlin to himself, trying not to ruin his chance to work for such a prodigious Irish firm that will have taken a bit of a dive on Google Reviews and Glassdoor, it has to be said.
Elsewhere, one toilet cubical over from McCreddlin, a senior PR executive was repeating “that was actually the UK arm of the firm and therefore nothing to do with us” over and over again with a disturbingly vacant look in their eyes.
