Winner Of Meath V Louth Leinster Final To Get Full Control Of Drogheda
IN AN UNPRECEDENTED move council officials in Meath and Louth have agreed, in conjunction with the GAA, to add another layer of jeopardy to the upcoming Leinster football final by putting the county-straddling town of Drogheda up for grabs.
While Louth holds the significant majority of the townlands and is considered purely ‘Louth’ in nature, the Leinster final is seen as a chance to finally settle the ‘Drogheda question’ with the team that lifts the Delaney Cup taking full control of the town and its suburbs.
“It’ll be nice to finally settle on one county for Drogheda, this in-betweeny little bit of Meath nonsense has to stop, some of these Southside heads are in Meath but could claim they’re allowed celebrated a potential Louth victory, a load of bull,” shared one GAA insider.
However, the proposal has given rise to conspiracy theorists who suggest Meath will intentionally throw the game to ensure they aren’t lumped with Drogheda.
“That is utter nonsense, to impugn the professionalism and dedication of the Meath players when the Louth players will be trying just as hard to lose the rights Drogheda on Sunday, is heinous skullduggery” confirmed one Louth selector.
Others have claimed foul play is afoot.
“Offering those knuckle draggers from Meath the chance to win Scotch Hall, giving them such a glorious incentive like that is basically like pumping them full of PEDs,” said one dissenting Louth supporter.
