“Now Is Not The Time To Bring Up Our Decades Long Record On Failing To Adequately Fund & Resource Keys Services In This Country”

THE GOVERNMENT has asked that recent events not be exploited by opportunists as a way to make factually accurate statements about the failures of the government in respect of essential state run and operated services.

“I think to quote our failures back to us now and the many direct warnings from people burnt out from working within the system is disrespectful, given the circumstances” confirmed a spokesperson.

“To Tusla workers who have tried to warn us at various points in the last decade about some of the 234 children who have died while in State care, you warned us then and we didn’t exactly listen about a lack of resources and safeguarding but perhaps now is not the time, okay?” explained the spokesperson.

Garda representatives who have warned of how poorly equipped they are to deal with criminals rioting along with advocates for the abolition of direct provision and properly resourced departments, which adhere to the law rather than focusing on PR photos of planes, have also been asked to take the day off.

“And yes a Tusla whistleblower once had their employment terminated but to bring this up now, it’s not right and correct, people trying to inform us that children considered to be at a high risk of abuse, exploitation or kidnap were being looked after by third party contractors with inadequate qualifications and insufficient vetting is one thing but to try and connect that to real world occurrences is accurate yes but it isn’t helpful,” they added.

“How you can call into question the intentions of a government that purposely releases record figures of child homelessness late on the last Friday of every month to avoid full media coverage, fails to provide school places for autistic children and presided over the Camhs scandal is beyond me”.
