VETOING efforts by the UN Security Council to push for a permanent ceasefire that would call for hostages to be released and an end to the killing, the US vetoed such a proposal for a sixth time but had a justifiable reason.

“There’s an Israeli coffee dock in reception and they’re giving away a free coffee for every 6th vetoing of a resolution that seeks to end the killing, preventing killing is all well and good but have you seen the price of coffee these days?” reasoned US deputy Middle East envoy Morgan Ortagus, casting the sole veto vote alongside 14 other votes in favour of the draft resolution.

While some will look unfavourably on the US for voting against a push for the immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza respected by all parties, the release of all captives held by Hamas and other groups, and a lifting of restrictions on humanitarian aid into Gaza, a free coffee is a free coffee.

“We told Qatar ‘shit happens’ when Israel bombed them as punishment for agreeing to help Israel broker peace talks with Hamas leadership, what else do you expect us to do?” offered Ortagus before slurping down some free coffee.

When asked to show how many stamps were needed on Donald Trump’s ‘support Netanyahu no matter what war crimes he commits in exchange for some sweet Gaza real estate’ loyalty card before he got to cash in, the US envoy declined to show WWN.
