THE FOOD Safety Authority has urged consumers not to eat any Fahey’s Farm branded beef burgers found in a variety of leading supermarkets over fears they may contain Morbeg meat.

A Fahey’s Farm spokesperson said that an investigation is underway to figure out how this happened but they suspect a herd of morbegs, known as a ‘mania of morbegs’, may have breached the fences of their farmland and fallen into a tenderiser.

“While Morbeg meat is safe to eat, if a little tough and chewy, our customers may on moral grounds feel they can’t in good conscience eat a creature capable of teaching basic Irish to young children,” said a Fahey spokesperson.

A rare and endangered species native to Ireland, specifically Morbeg Land, consuming Morbeg meat has been illegal since the 1970s due to dwindling numbers but rich Irish clientele have been known to pay restaurants to serve and cook the meat.

The alarm was first raised by a customer who reported finding the sock-like remnants of a morbeg’s ear in his stool after eating what he believed was a 100% beef burger.

UPDATE: A Fahey’s spokesperson has denied any knowledge of a mass grave found beneath the Growing Tree.
