Stena Line Withdrawing Rosslare To Hy-Brasil Service
IRISH ferry operator Stena Line has announced the withdrawal of its centuries-old crossing to the legendary island of Hy-Brasil, bringing an end to over 600 years of service to the elusive destination off Ireland’s west coast.
“Due to dwindling passenger numbers, difficulties locating the island, and a surge in sea monster attacks, we have decided to end all ferry services to Hy-Brasil,” read a statement from Stena Line, which was immediately bombarded with furious messages from island residents.
“I use that line to get to work on the mainland – there’s no airport here thanks to the eternal fog,” said an outraged Cornelius Shring, a local centaur who commutes to his job at a stud farm in Tipperary. “This is a disgrace. A total abandonment of the good people of HB.”
Stena Line said the decision followed a ‘strategic route review’, noting that most passengers were simply taking the trip for duty-free alcohol and cigarettes, still widely available on the mysterious island.
“The whole ‘not being on maps for hundreds of years’ thing continues to be a logistical issue,” explained Johan Edelman, Stena Line’s Trade Director. “We’ve also lost several ferries to a giant sea serpent that keeps devouring passengers. At this stage, it’s just not feasible.”
The company is said to be exploring alternative routes to safer mythical destinations, including Atlantis (weather permitting) and a proposed seasonal service to Tir na nÓg for pensioners.
