Gardaí Starting To Suspect Ireland Is A Hotspot For International Drug Importation

GARDA crime units across the country have said they have a sneaking suspicion that Ireland may be a hotspot for international drug trafficking following hundreds of huge drug busts in recent decades.

Speaking at a press conference today after the latest haul of cocaine, a spokesgarda stated that the location of the island of Ireland on the most Western part of the continent could actually be a target for international criminal gangs.

“You’d think our navy and the couple of sniffer dogs we have here would be enough to deter would-be drug smugglers, but no, they seem to have found a way around our impervious coastline,” the statement read, “actually now we think about it, this could be why Ireland is home to one of the biggest drug cartels in the world – it’s all starting to make sense!”

Despite having one unarmed navy ship patrolling Irish waters at any one time, a shocking new customs report also believes it may not be enough as tonnes of high-grade narcotics are being discovered monthly here, with fears we’re being used a backdoor to the UK and Europe.

“We could be wrong here but it may be possible that with Northern Ireland serving as a borderless gateway to Britain, our lengthy history of sophisticated organised crime syndicates, undermanned and underfunded police and naval forces and poorly secured ferry ports and cargo ships could all be contributing to an underground drugs super highway dating back to the 1960s, so someone should probably look into that in the near future,” the report concluded.
