Alleged Domestic Abuser Picks Fight With Man For A Change
THE GAA community remains divided after news alleged domestic abuser who denies all claims, former Derry manager Rory Gallagher, has picked a fight with GAA president Jarlath Burns.
“While threatening others obviously comes naturally to some, threatening legal action against a man is a whole other ballgame,” observed one GAA man, reacting to the news Gallagher has stated his intent to sue Burns if he fails to withdraw an email written to Naas GAA outlining concerns about the possibility of the club appointing Gallagher as a coach.
“We’ve lost sight of what the GAA is all about. When did we become the sort of organisation that issues character references AGAINST alleged abusers?” expressed one solid club man.
There is some relief among county boards with serial court attenders on their panels that it appears Burns hasn’t made email writing on such matters a consistent habit.
“Whether some lad coaches a sport or not, I couldn’t care less but I’m just glad all this business gives me the rare opportunity to rage about how untrustworthy, sly and manipulative I believe all women to be,” confirmed one of the more evenhanded online commentators.
Naas GAA defended their initial decision to appoint Gallagher as they rightly pointed to the widely publicised GAA coach shortage which meant Gallagher was to one and only person they could appoint to the role.
