Séamus Power’s Top 10 Major Finish The Only Waterford Based Sports Story To Occur This Weekend

GOLFING God Séamus Power’s top 10 finish at this year’s PGA Championship has provided a fantastic sporting story for Waterford over a weekend during which there wasn’t any other sport involving the county taking place.

“You do get the odd weekend during the summer where’s there absolutely no sport on, which is why Seamus playing a stormer over in the US is great for Waterford, which would have been starved of sport otherwise seeing as no other event had a Waterford participant of any shape in it,” confirmed Alan Bardon, Waterford native.

“Slim pickings on the TV this weekend sport wise, usually this time of year there’s the GAA on but a rare quiet week there so I made sure to stick on the golf, and fair fucks to you Power lad, some performance boi” added another local Mark Faolin, who can’t wait for the hurling to start back up, which must be soon.

Chilean golfer Mito Perriera fell away despite being in the lead at Southern Hills in the sort of embarrassing collapse that was not replicated in any other sport, especially involving Waterford.

Power finished up at -1 par with a tie for 9th with many proud locals urging him on to maintain his current form.

“If you fancy winning a tournament on the same day as the Munster Senior Hurling Final you’d be doing us a huge favour,” confirmed Waterford, before adding if Power needed somewhere to practice Walsh Park is going free.
