“I Want To But The Rents Are Mad”: Irish Man Abroad Tells Of His Hopes Of Returning Home

SPEAKING OF a painful dilemma which will be familiar to thousands of Irish emigrants and their families, one Irish man has spoken of his pain over how moving back to Ireland really isn’t an option given the scale of the rents with nothing else preventing him from settling back home, WWN can report.

“There’s no other reason, that’s the only reason I’m not coming home. The rents are that bad, someone like me just can’t chance coming home, what sort of job do you be working to afford those rents?” explained UAE resident Christy Kinahan (69), who after a recent career working abroad is urgently seeking a way to return home.

“My, eh, work visa and that is up in UAE, that’s the reason I’m moving on which look it, that’s just one of them things, when it’s time to say Dubai, it’s time to say Dubai, and when it’s time to leave cus you’ve been told to leave, it’s time to leave,” added Kinahan, who like many Irish people went abroad when there wasn’t much work at home.

A heartbreaking lack of options back home in Ireland due to high cost of living factors, Kinahan has taken to consoling himself as he looks for somewhere new to move to, insisting to himself that the reality of being back in Ireland, as many returning emigrants will attest to, isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

“But you know, on the other hand, it’s one thing to be saying ‘it’d be nice to be home, see the kids more often’ but in reality how often would I see them? One of my lot is very busy in a maximum security related job so he’d be a hard man to get a hold of,” explained Kinahan.

“The ironic thing is I’ve been very successful in my career abroad and if anything it’s Ireland that’s losing out, that I can’t bring my expertise home,” added the international chemical delivery and logistics expert.
