“We’re Lucky Ireland Doesn’t Have A Class Divide” Says Man Who Sends Children To Private School So They Don’t Interact With Working Class
“WHAT’S GREAT ABOUT Ireland is we’re all bunched in, there’s no gated communities or any of that nonsense, your neighbours are from all walks of life, and the kids get exposed to life properly in all its variety,” explained local father-of-two Brian Martin, who spends €4,700 a year per child to ensure his children aren’t subjected to being in primary school alongside working class children rife with behavioural problems and a tendency toward theft and violence.
Martin, a long time exponent of the need to guard against Ireland becoming a stratified society in which differing socio-economic groups are walled off from one another, has confirmed Ireland must remain vigilant for any such changes in society.
“Imagine it, the way the English are, I just like we don’t have all that stiff upper lip, upstairs/downstairs stuff going on,” explained Martin, whose children get swimming lessons at the private gym their members of rather than at the public pool which is seven minutes from their home.
In the Dubliner’s favour, his two sons play rugby for their local team which contains a rich tapestry of all of Ireland.
“It’s free, apart from the membership fees, we don’t want to shield them from things, have them become disconnected and shut off from the real world. And that’s what great about Pegasus, everyone’s welcome, even the people from the estates we don’t do leaflet drops to when looking for new kids to join,” continued Martin.
