Government Hoping Protest Calling On Them To Provide Basic Healthcare For Children A One Off Thing

THE GOVERNMENT is hoping a march in memory of nine-year-old Harvey Morrison, who had spina bifida and scoliosis and died last month, isn’t something the general public persistently take up as a collective cause, hellbent on securing basic healthcare for children who go years without essential interventions.

“Advocacy groups may be calling for a statutory inquiry into the backlog in surgeries, but one can only hope this march is a one off thing and we can go back to just leaving things as they are, never holding anyone to account, accepting letting children down as just one of those things,” explained a spokesperson for the Department of Kicking The Can Down The Road.

“When faced with people calling for children to be provided with healthcare, we as their public representatives only have one choice, and that’s to step up and maybe dismiss everyone protesting as ‘far right’ if this becomes a repeat protest?” added another spokesperson.

“You might not like hearing it, but unless enough of you consistently and collectively come out and say enough is enough on behalf of your fellow citizens, we can just kind of ignore pretty every abominable scandal we preside over”.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill confirmed that she would back a multi-disciplinary inquiry provided it was guaranteed to take years before reaching a set of recommendations which would not be acted on, published long after she’s moved onto another department.
