How To Justify Voting FF/FG Again Now They’ve Cancelled Building Of 3,000 Social Housing Units & Child Homelessness Is At 4,844
WARNING – this advice cheat sheet is strictly for consumption by people who are planning to continue voting for Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael:
It is becoming harder and harder to make the rigidly logical case for voting for Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael again, which is something you are intent on doing, no matter the current and future policy outcomes. But how to justify it? To yourself, your friends, your kids, your partner?
We’ve got you covered:
“Hahahahahaha” – to say when someone asks how you can justify voting for the government parties.
“Name a western economy not currently struggling with high rents and house prices?” – to say to yourself as you try not to imagine the lives of some of the 4,844 homeless children.
“Voting for the other parties? You might as well sign up to a housing crisis and an explosion in the number of homeless people. And who’d want that nightmare?” – when pressed on the current state of things.
“It comes down to personal responsibility. Can’t always blame others for your own mess” – to say to yourself as you read how a working couple facing homelessness can’t find anywhere to rent.
“I’m doing fine” – to say to yourself as you barely keep your head above water paying for private health insurance despite a free health service, struggle to afford childcare in an economy that demands two parents work.
“I’m four years off being mortgage free and my house has increased in value by 135%” – in response to the news 45,000 more children entered poverty in 2024.
“Fuck’em” – when you’re sick of listening to people say things could be different, could be better if enough people chose not to vote in FF/FG again next time around.
