AN UPDATED and ambitious mountain-top housing target revealed by the government has been labeled a ‘fantasy’ by opposition parties, WWN can reveal.

“There is a logjam at the bottle neck of supply chain housing metrics but we’re confident of achieving activisations vis-a-vis the building of one social house in the next seven months which could be the turning point for the housing crisis,” confirmed a spokesperson for the government.

In the meantime, the coalition parties have asked local councils if they could also redouble their efforts in delivering homes.

“It’s important to reject all social housing schemes, and leave budgets unspent because it is only them can we really break through this lack of supply,” added the spokesperson.

“Who knows, maybe after one social housing unit, comes a second one but it’s hard to tell as none of us know how numbers works”.

Despite the positive progress the location of the social housing unit on the steepest slope at the peak of Carrantuohill has been questioned.

“There’s no pleasing some people. They just live to moan and can’t acknowledge when we’re making good progress,” confirmed Minister for Housing James Browne who attended a sod turning ceremony on the peak shortly before being airlifted offsite by mountain rescue as the ground gave way beneath him.

UPDATE: The land at the peak has been rezoned and has been given to a developer for free for the purposes of producing an affordable housing unit.

UPDATE: The house has been leased indefinitely by the developer to the local council who will now pay monthly rent at €2500 and rising linked to inflation for the next 40 years.
