Simon Harris Asked To Extend Under-16s Social Media Ban To Parents On Facebook Too

TÁNAISTE Simon Harris is said to be urging the government to seriously consider exploring a ban on under-16s accessing social media until such a point tech companies tell him ‘no’ and he doesn’t follow through on the idea.

However, Harris’s recent comments have sparked a debate with supporters of the move asking that any ban be extended to parents who are active on Facebook, Instagram, any social media.

“I’d back banning all drooling hollow noggin’d humans if I could, but I’ll settle for parents of a certain who believe because something is on social media it must real,” explained one backer of the ban being extended to parents.

“Oh I don’t care about misinformation of gullibility, I just don’t want anymore pictures of ‘little angels’ in my fucking feeds,” remarked another ‘parent ban’ advocate.

A passionate advocate for the sanctity and safety of childhood Fine Gael leader Harris said if social media companies won’t do more, legislation may be the answer.

“It’s getting to the point where the ill-effects of exposure to social media is nearly eclipsing the negative impact the government has on young people,” explained Harris, who famously pledged and failed to end the scoliosis surgery waiting lists for children.

“One day on Snapchat is nearly as lethal as us not providing class room spaces to children with autism, a week on Instagram – nearly as potent as our chronic under-resourcing of youth mental health service. A single second of Tiktok? More damaging for childhoods than us presiding overs 4,000 homeless children and 176,000 living in poverty,” concluded Harris.
