Government Not Concerned By Anti Immigration Rally, Record Homeless Figures, Anything At All Really
TAOISEACH Micheál Martin said he was ‘not concerned’ by the anti-immigrant protest in Dublin on Saturday, and didn’t accept the negativity of speakers in attendance.
“Actually, the anti-immigration protest was lovely timing because that’s all the media covered really, our quiet release of homeless figures on Friday evening went under the radar,” explained the Taoiseach, who added telling people ‘they’ve never had it so good’ should result in widespread joy amongst the public and reduce people’s myriad frustrations.
The government has confirmed that while people of colour and immigrants may be concerned by the hostility at these protests, they aren’t at all concerned.
“We were only elected last November, we’ve another 4 years before we have to pretend we’re interested in solving the housing issue, we’re in our chill era,” confirmed one government spokesperson.
“Protests, not concerned. 15,418, a record homeless figure, not concerned. You know, it’s be easier to write a list of things we are concerned about, but we don’t actually get to write that list we ask property speculators and arms dealers lobbyists to do that up for us,” added the spokesperson.
However, the government didn’t rule out continuing to ‘talk tough’ on immigration and allowing foreigners to be the scapegoat for every problem so they can hoover up the support of anyone whose sole hobby consists of shouting ‘get them out’.
