US Warned TikTok Ban Could Greatly Harm Profits Of Companies That Produce Anxiety Drugs For Teenagers

THE IMPENDING ban of popular social media platform TikTok in the US over its refusal to divest itself of Chinese government control has prompted the producers of various mental health related drugs to speak out.

“There’s a lack of longitudinal studies on the potential harmful effects of depriving young people of their best source of body dysmorphia, misinformation and self-esteeming obliterating comparisons,” said one pharma company quite happy with the positive outcomes of raising another generation on addictive social media algorithms.

While some drug manufacturers acknowledge studies that show even being exposed to TikTok for a matter of minutes can have a negative impact of a woman’s body image they have countered, arguing ‘but brain feel good, must have’.

“Hey, are you trying to ruin my chances of getting my yearly bonus?” raged one US-based fluoxetine sales rep.

With Tiktok on the verge of a US ban, many feel no consideration whatsoever has been given to the negative impacts on company profits in the event of young people reporting vastly improved mental health.

“We have to consider the harm such a decision could cause, you don’t want to act rashly without consideration of the longterm affects on these kids, what if they hate the increased feeling of well-being they get from not being addicted to checking their phones every two seconds?” offered one pharmaceutical executive.

Rubbishing the moral panic over the security threat posed by the Chinese government having influnece over 170 million Americans and access to their personal data, many TikTok users argued ‘Tiananmen Square 404 not found’.
