Middle-Class Housing Estate Hit By Door Wreath Epidemic
RESIDENTS of local middle class housing development Bracken Place have been urged cop on after what can only be described as an epidemic of door wreaths plaguing the neighbourhood.
Instigated by Theresa Power in number 23 last year, door after door soon followed suit as the battle of the Jones hotted up in one of the weirdest trends to engulf the estate since LED lighting phase of ’22.
“There’s no reason as to why someone would hang a ring of flowers on their door unless it’s Christmas or, at a stretch, a bereavement in the family,” local community group leader Aiden Hines texted in the residents’ association WhatsApp group. “You’re not living in the Hollywood hills lads, it’s an overpriced bunch of wood framed semi-Ds next to an industrial estate on the outskirts of Waterford, get over yourselves, boy!”
Asked as to why they would hang a wreath off-season, all year round, one homeowner admitted to just copying their neighbour and didn’t want to be left out and isolated like the solitary renters in the estate.
“It’s really a statement to say we own our house and are house proud,” Mark in number 57 explained, before denying the marking is some kind of ‘weird swingers thing’. “What!? No way, Jesus Christ, who said that? Right, it’s coming down”.
