Trump Expected To Use Shooting To Call For Peace, Civility & Tolerance

THE TRANSFORMATIVE nature of being millimetres from death is expected to lead Donald Trump to a soul-searching examination of where the US is as a nation, and his unifying role in healing the fractious divide.

“I just can’t see why a man with a history of praising the brutal acts of dictators, who engages in racist dog whistles with his supporters and constantly dehumanises those who oppose him and calls for violence against them, would ever use an incident like this to further inflame tensions,” offered one political commentator on US TV.

“As always Donald preaches a message of peace, civility and tolerance, and if anything this famously unpetty individual will use this assassination attempt to call for his supporters to be totally chill,” said one member of Trump’s campaign while reading up on the 1933 burning of the Reichstag.

Quoting the 16th century poet George Herbert, Trump took to social media to declare “living well is the best revenge” and encouraged people on all sides of the political divide to come together in peace.

“Maybe a bake sale for charity or something, but if you insist I will take direct donations to my campaign, which I totally promise to send to the other victims in this senseless tragedy,” confirmed Trump is some of his first remarks since the shooting.

“Also, I didn’t shout ‘fight, fight’ I shouted ‘peace is the only answer, political violence no matter its origin is abhorrent and cannot be encouraged by anyone if we are to have a prosperous democracy. Having giving this a lot of thought I will drop out of the race immediately if Biden does, to allow a new generation of vibrant, non-toxic leaders to genuinely serve the public’,” concluded Trump, in typical Trump fashion.
