Poll: Will The Fact SIPO Concealed Varadkar’s False Donation Statements Overshadow Bruton’s Passing?

THERE ARE worries that the news of the sad passing of former Taoiseach and Fine Gael leader John Bruton will be overshadowed completely by the Irish media’s attention diverting to another breaking news story.

That news being the High Court granting an order quashing the Standards in Public Office’s decision to refuse media outlet The Ditch access to Leo Varadkar’s 2022 donation statement. Statements that showed Varadkar had submitted two false 2022 donation statements in January and August 2023 in which he failed to declare a prohibited political donation from businessman Ray Power.

But will the news Varadkar had to file three statutory declarations of his political donations before arriving at a true and accurate account overshadow the passing of John Bruton?
