A County Carlow man has today confirmed his quirky personality by purchasing a vintage car, WWN can reveal.

Mark Tobin, who also wears woolly hats and leather bracelets, made the decision after seeing a similar-looking man in Dublin driving a 27-year-old Morris Minor.

“I cycled to work on a high nelly for years, so when I seen a fellow quirky guy driving a vintage car I knew it was the option for me,” Tobin explained.

“Being different is hard these days, so I’m constantly looking for the next big thing to do, item to buy or place to travel to so I can appear “out there” and slightly kooky. Hopefully I can now find a girl of equal quirkiness to accompany me on my journeys.”

Tobin admits he’s not exactly sure what kind of car he is driving, but insists he’s just happy now to be one of those guys.

“It’s a Ford something,” he confirmed, pointing to a Ford badge on the front bumper, “and it has that old number plate on it that doesn’t tell you what year it is, so it’s obviously really old and rare. Sure, there’s no power steering, real safety features, heating, working wipers or spare wheel, but it’s really hip-looking, and that’s just me: hip.”

The 32-year-old expects to insure the car in 2019, when he has saved the €4,576.78 needed to get insurance for it.
