What We Learned From Episode 1 Of Last Night’s Traitors
THE FIRST EPISODE of the second season of the hit show The Traitors aired last night, and our resident film and TV critic Niall Fillum is back with another review:
“It’s great to be sizing up another series of The Traitors, a rare joy in Ireland; a gripping TV event it feels like the whole country is watching. Painstaking production, and a crew going above and beyond to deliver a successful binge worthy show or effortless charm and fun. It’s times like these I’m delighted to be in the job I’m in. So without further ado, here’s what we learned from episode 1:
Your man with the face does my head in. And your one with the voice? Don’t get me started.
And the other fella? A personality on him as pleasant as a cheese grater to the balls. The head the ball with a head like a burst ball? He’d give paracetamol a headache.
That’s just me going off the first 30 seconds of the episode. Don’t judge a book by its cover, immediately pulp it so you never have to look at it again.
Paying the licence fee shouldn’t require me to go on blood pressure tablets.
It’s rare I shout at the TV and pick up my glass of wine and throw it at the TV, then flip over the coffee table and break a leg off one of the chairs, and use the leg to stab the TV screen, but I did it seven times before the first ad break last night.
What’s her name as well, she puts the ‘test’ in contestant, and you can drop the ‘a’ and give that unbearable fella the remaining letters – connt. Sorry my ideas don’t flow as well when I’m seething with rage and foaming at the mouth.
And where do they find these day release patients who got dressed in the dark with the help of Stevie Wonder’s stylist? And if that lad’s opinion of himself was any higher it’d be Charlie Sheen on a cloud.
My wife would agree but she’s gone out for the night three years ago and never come back, but I can hear her now loudly concurring with every execrable rant I’m shouting at the TV like this isn’t just meant to be a harmlessly light and fun TV show.
And my son, oh how he’d be guffawing at how much anger I’m directing at a show about people basically playing a guessing game. At least I think he would, he’s not been in touch of late.
But what was yer man like with his guessing the Traitors’ identities? Like Inspector Clouseau being tasked with solving the JFK assassination, just awful and unbearable to watch, like the reflection in my TV after I gnawed at the cable on my Eir box and the picture went as black as my soul.
Anyway, looking forward to tonight’s episode, should be good!”
