Waterford’s Oldest Vape Shop Celebrating 125 Years In Business

A PROUD day in the Waterford business community as the whole county turned out to mark the anniversary of the O’Racklin family’s 125th year in business, at the helm of the country’s oldest vape shop.

In 1901 Peter O’Racklin sold his family’s only cow and used the money to establish what was then the country’s only vape shop, it was a big risk but the fact that shop is still standing on its original location and remains in the hands of his family is a testament to the businessman.

“My great-great-grandad was a visionary, opening this shop wasn’t easy especially when you think he did it 100 years before the vape was invented and popularised,” shared Michael O’Racklin, the current proprietor of O’Racklin’s Good Time Vaporistry.

“In fact the local community here sort of gave him a wide steer as they thought this man who was offering to sell them something called a ‘vape’ only for them to step into a shop with empty shelves, was a bit tapped,” added O’Racklin, who says he has no such trouble explaining the concept to the 13-year-olds he sells his products to on the sly.

And customers visiting the shop today can look forward to many special offers marking the 125th anniversary of O’Racklin’s Good Time Vaporistry.

“We weren’t sure what to do with G-G-Grandpa Pete’s ashes, we’d have them up in the attic for God knows how long struggling to think of a worthy ceremony or way of honouring him but then it was my youngest who said why not put him in the vapes,” explained O’Racklin who his great-great-grandfather’s ashes had been incorporated into 125 unique vapes for sale this week only.
