“The Video Got Some Views In Fairness”: Minister For Housing Celebrates Finally Hitting A Target
THE SOUND OF champagne corks could be heard coming from the office of the Minister for Housing James Browne early this morning as word got around that his department finally hit a target; in the form of an intensely infuriating video telling young people about how to ‘chillax’ when being forced to move home due to Ireland’s rental market being more inhospitable to living than the surface of the sun.
“Yeah, it was a disaster of a video but look it, let us enjoy it going viral as it was angrily shared among young people who feel we’re out of touch. Last year the Taoiseach claimed before the election we’d hit our 40,000 housing units targets last year only for that to be a load of bollocks, so a video racking up some hate watching views is cause to celebrate,” explained a spokesperson for Minister Browne.
Unable to hit any housing target within a one millimetre distance while armed with heat seeking laser pointer, the Minister’s team are taking a ‘win is a win’ approach to gaslighting those locked out of affording to a rent a moldly box room in a house you can’t be sure doesn’t have hidden cameras somewhere in the bathroom.
“I’m not exactly sure how this video malarky works but I think the more views you get on the YouTubes and the TikToks, the more money those companies pay you, so in theory all those young people watching this and losing their shit are actually helping us create revenue that will directly pay for solutions to the housing crisis such as more tax breaks for landlords and developers,” the spokesperson added.
UPDATE: A spokesperson for the minister has denied they are not taking the plight of young people in the housing market seriously after a second video of minister Browne armed with a small clip mic interviewing people about their favourite ’67’ themed Tiktoks emerged online.
