AN estimated €5,000 worth of chicken fillet rolls were stolen in yet another overnight smash-and-grab in Dublin, WWN reports.

Gardaí believe a notorious underworld gang who specialise in reselling chicken fillet rolls on the black market are behind the latest robbery, as retail prices soar.

“We would ask anyone who has been approached by street sellers offering cheap chicken fillet rolls to inform their local Garda station,” a Garda statement read.

With the demand for cheaper grocery goods reaching an all-time high, opportunistic smash-and-grab gangs are said to be making millions from the heists, selling chicken fillet rolls for half the normal shop price.

“We’ve seen rolls go for €3, and it’s tempting when Musgrave-owned chains are charging over €6 for the same thing,” one detective told WWN.

This was the 357th such smash-and-grab raid this year, with undercover Gardaí now operating on the streets pretending to be potential chicken fillet roll customers.

“They usually target culchies, so our undercover lads basically just wear their usual casual Coppers attire,” the detective added.
