Public Calls For Better Warning System Following Yet Another Surprise Ed Sheeran Gig

“IT’S just not fair on anyone. There needs to be better warning systems in place before he strikes again.” Thousands of music fans renewed calls to the Irish government and local councils this week after Ed Sheeran once again launched a surprise gig at the RDS on Monday.

The so-called “secret” concert, held for Spotify’s Billions Club, went completely under the radar for many South Dublin residents who reported receiving no warning that Sheeran was in the vicinity until it was far too late and they could already hear him singing.

“If Met Eireann announced a major storm was coming mid-storm they’d all be sacked,” one victim pointed out. “One minute I was happy as Larry on my way for a quiet pint, and the next I’m humming Shape of You. The whole night was ruined. I can still hear it looping in my head, chiselling away at every fibre of my soul.”

Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment Darragh O’Brien acknowledged the stream of complaints, promising that more sophisticated warning systems will be introduced. He confirmed his department has already liaised with Sheeran’s management in a bid to reach a compromise.

“Negotiations are ongoing. The current warning model – the odd Joe.ie post – clearly isn’t enough,” O’Brien told WWN. “We’re now looking into air raid sirens or Sheeran-shaped spotlights to alert the public of any incoming gigs.”

Dublin City Council has confirmed the ginger level warning has been lifted, for now.
