CALLING on the ruling government he has been a part of for the past decade, former Taoiseach Simon Harris has bravely come forward with a bold new maverick stance on Ireland’s immigration policies.

The now Tánaiste has broken the Fine Gael mould by admitting that yes, Ireland sure is letting a lot of immigrants into the country, shocking the nation to its core.

“Do you know what? I’m getting the funny feeling this government’s immigration policies might be slightly flawed,” said Harris, who currently holds the second-highest position in the Irish government.

Citing huge tenfold increases in immigration over recent years, Harris wondered aloud how it all came to this and who on earth could possibly be to blame for the oversight.

It is understood the groundbreaking revelation is expected to spark the government right into action.

“We’ll probably have to do a reshuffle, rotate the ministers around a bit so it looks like some kind of change,” Harris continued, now looking around in mild confusion at the sight of homeless tents lining the city streets. “Wait a minute. Are there people living in those things?”

Meanwhile, the nation has been advised not to bring up any more issues for the time being, to give the government a few years to process.

“Wait until he hears about the health service,” whispered one government insider, who doesn’t have the heart to tell Harris he was Minister for Health for four years.
