Outrage As Local Music Fan Wasn’t Consulted On Slane Headline Selection
THE MUSIC WORLD has criticised the lack of consultation done in the run up to announcing Luke Combs as the headline act at Slane for 2026, WWN understands.
“But I hate shit country music, why wasn’t my permission sought? Who the fuck is this guy?” confirmed local music obsessive Cormac Creelan (23).
A tastemaker in his own head, Creelan rolled his eyes at the news Combs would take to Slane’s stage next year and couldn’t understand why his line up of bands and artists that would have absolutely no chance of selling 90,000 tickets weren’t considered.
“Everyone loves the niche acts I’m suggesting, it’s not rocket science, just announce a band that has received zero radio play in Ireland and is known by a handful of curmudgeons like myself who would absolutely not bother our holes to turn up because we declare any gig over €20 to be a rip off,” Creelan offered.
While Creelan admitted that he is known to dig his heels in a little when it comes to his music taste, he was open to Slane organisers assembling a super group of his choosing to replace Luke Combs and would harbour no grudges for the initial failure not to take his feelings into consideration.
“If they want to go broad, they could go for huge names like Shabaka, Pharoah Sanders, Hinds, Bikini Kill, give the people what they want,” confirmed Creelan, who longs for the days when Slane kept to its roots of superior acts like Robbie Williams and Bryan Adams.
