A SIGNIFICANT TRAFFIC management operation in place in the coastal Dublin suburb of Dun Laoghaire as an unprecedented number of middle aged Irish men have made the journey there to stare and marvel at a great big boat yoke.

“It’s massive, look,” said one onlooking man of a certain age, repeating ‘massive’ softly under his breath a number of times as he gazed in wonder at The Wind Server, a Danish offshore wind farm platform used as part of maintenance and repairs on wind turbines.

“Boat is big. Me like when boat is big, is it biggest boat? It different boat than normal boat?” observed another middle aged man, this time pointing for emphasis at the vessel which measures 79.3 metres in length and 32.3 metres in width.

“How many longers is that than my car, do you think?” queried one wide-eyed man to a friend who began counting out big numbers on his fingers without breaking from his concentrated ogling of the imposing vessel.

A number of the men, who are deaf to the sound of the road traffic they’re blocking as they watch on through the zoom lens on their camera phones, have been stood motionless and in place for hours.

“Look, look, on the boat there’s a man in shiny jacket. Do you think he’s the captain? Would he blown the big horn on his boat for us?” one excited man asked his young son.
