Accusation That FF/FG Knowingly Lied About 40,000 Homes Target Could Result In Absolutely No Consequences
INTERNAL documents from the Department of Finance obtained by Sinn Féin through a Dáil parliamentary question reveals that Fianna Fáil’s Jack Chambers was informed the 2024 target of 40,000 house builds, which would gone on to be repeated by the coalition on the campaign trail, would be impossible to achieve.
Being in possession of data which suggested there was absolutely no chance whatsoever that the government’s claim 40,000 houses would be built in 2024 is such a seismic revelation that it could lead to whatever the opposite of explosive consequences are.
“Yeah, so what,” confirmed a spokesperson for the coalition, as all ministers were unavailable for comment as they were off enjoying Paddy’s Day trips abroad.
The makings of a huge scandal, the knowledge that coalition politicians touted this figure on the campaign trail despite knowing it to be untrue, at a time housing was the number one issue among voters, has the potential to change absolutely nothing, leading to a complete uninterrupted function of the government.
“Come on now, be serious, what do you think is going to happen? The Irish people protesting on the streets? Ha, you naive eejits, it’s not lying, it’s called ‘trying to win an election'” a government spokesperson told Sinn Féin.
“Not only will there be no blow back on this, we’re going to continue on with plans to let people charge €1600 for a shed in a garden, chuckle with Trump in the White House about the crisis, give developers more subsidies and use missing the 40,000 target as a reason to dismantle planning laws so that sunlight starved apartment cubes with terrible fire safety measures get built”.
