PHARRELL Williams has sold out tickets in Croke Park today for June 20 next summer.

Speaking to WWN today the American singer and songwriter said he was delighted to have sold out so quickly and said he was looking forward to performing with an up-and-coming Irish band.

“I love Ireland and can’t wait to perform with one of your local band’s there next Summer,” he said. “It’s great to see so much interest in my work and I just hope there will be no objections from local residents”.

Organisers of the event announced the gig last week and were not surprised how quickly the tickets sold out.

“Pharrell is one of the most popular performers on the planet right now and it will be a great achievement for any band to play alongside him in Croke Park,” said chief organiser Danny Casey, “We expect a Dublin band by the name of ‘Screenplay’ to support Pharrell and it should be a great gig for anyone going”.

U2, Robbie Williams and One Direction are among the many acts to have played sold out gigs to the 80,000 strong crowds at Croke Park in recent years.
