Heartwarming: This Data Centre Needed Water, So A Local Community Filled Buckets From A River
WHEN ONE small Irish community heard that a data centre in their locality were using double the amount of water it had used at the start of the year during the summer months, they came together in collective action many online commenters have called ‘inspiring’ and ‘heartwarming’.
“We’re on a hosepipe ban, boil water notice and have the water knocked off during minor repairs, so I can only imagine the discomfort, worry and inconvenience our precious data centre feels,” said one person in a organised line of locals, passing buckets from a local river leading directly to the data centre.
“You know, I didn’t even think, I instinctively grabbed a bucket, filled it from the river down the road and ran towards the data centre. It’s not like the river was doing anything with the water anyway, the river wasn’t storing any non-consensual Grok undressing images so like why leave the water there, y’know?” added another resident.
When informed that water from a local river would likely be incapatible with and damaging for cooling systems of data centres, locals reacted with an admirable level of team work.
“Shit, they’re onto us, hurry up,” said one local desperately refilling a bucket and running toward the data centre at double the previous speed.
