THE COUNTY OF Waterford, first promised a 24/7 Cath lab which still isn’t operational some time shortly before man discovered fire, has urged Donegal not to get ‘too excited’ about the promise of a surgical hub, WWN can confirm.

“I remember when we first heard we’d got the green light for a Cath lab that would be open on the weekends, that was 2,114 cardiac emergencies ago, more hopeful times,” explained one Waterford resident.

Letterkenny has been confirmed as the site for a new two-theatre surgical hub much to the relieve of healthcare workers and residents in the region.

“Did they give you a date it’ll open by? Right, well, this is how HSE and Government maths works – time frames do not cooperate with the laws of time as you know them. So maybe add 10 years onto the initial date and then accept it won’t be open then either,” explained one Waterford resident and heart disease sufferers from their early grave.

Deise natives and experts in being let down also urged Donegal dwellers to realise a ‘promise for Dublin’ is strong currency which can be relied on and cashed in any bank whereas a ‘promise for somewhere outside Dublin’ is as worthless as a chocolate penny.

“No, I’m sure the Minister for Health did announce it. Oh no, I’m sure she is very insistent. She surely is putting her full weight behind it, no doubt but like we said don’t pop the champagne until you’re bare arse is hanging out the back of a surgical gown and you see the surgeon’s scapel, alright?” confirmed one 93-year-old Waterford resident who remembers their great-grandmother talking about how Waterford were promised a 24/7 Cath lab soon.
