Pro & Cons Of Wearing Skorts While Playing Camogie
CAMOGIE players staged a protest in opposition to being mandated to wear uncomfortable skorts, a skirt/shorts hybrid, by the Camogie Association which has been called at best ‘impractical’ and worst ‘fugly’.
With 60% of county representatives voting against the allowing of the wearing of shorts just weeks ago, further protests may be on the cards. However, before rushing to a conclusion it’s important to weigh up the pros and cons of keeping skorts:
Pro – in an era of vast changes, by mandating skorts we can keep the little treasured tradition of deciding women don’t have a say in things directly impacting them a little bit longer.
Con – O’Neills will have to lay off the 5000 people in their dedicated skort making department.
Pro – it’s a fun word to say.
Con – the number of auld lads attending games on their own may dwindle.
Pro – Nike are on the verge of announcing a €1bn skorts deal with the CA.
Con – if skorts are banned then what else will radio phone ins and GAA podcasts breathlessly debate?
Pro – with the simple edition of a small bit more material, skorts can reach the ankle and cover more of the unsightly female body.
Con – as of yet no one wearing skorts has won the Liam McCarthy.
Pro – treatment of chaffed thighs contributes almost €100mn annually to the anti-chaffing cream sector of the economy.
Con – won’t take on mythical post-ironic cool status until Paul Mescal is pictured waltzing around London in a pair.
Pro – “Making this choice arbitrarily knowing how much it annoys current players makes us feel great” – the Camogie Association.
Con – not a single celebrity was wearing them at the Met Gala this year.
Pro – has strong international branding potential when it comes to becoming a dedicated Pokemon character called Skortle.
Con – skorts are a gateway fashion choice, before you know players will be wearing 12th century battle-ready plate armour.
