Gardaí Renew Appeals As Swaddled Up Husband Left Abandoned At Fire Station
CORMULLAN fire station was the scene of a heartbreaking discovery yesterday morning when swaddled up in a warm blanket, one local husband, believed to be one Ciaran Nally (52), was deposited by a woman at the scene before she quickly fled.
“There may be many reasons a wife surrenders her husband to the care of others; chronic uncleanliness, pig ignorance or she just fancied a change, but we’re not here to judge, we only want Ciaran here to be placed back with those who love him or begrudgingly put up with him,” garda Sean Coggin said at a media address appealing for the public to come forward with any information.
Initially sleeping soundly when discovered, the husband awoke and then became cranky when he demanded dinner on the table, prompting fire fighters to soothe him with tea and biscuits.
“Bless him, it was quite a fright for him I think. A bit emotional when he saw all these strangers. He’s been asking when his shirts will be ironed, that sort of stuff, but we’re just trying to distract him,” confirmed one fire fighter at the station where Nally was left.
CCTV footage seen by WWN shows Nally gently laid down outside the station by a woman who gave him his favourite of beer to distract him and keep him calm.
“The footage shows this individual does care for this husband and may be waking up today with a profound sense of freedom, but despite this, he’ll need picking up as he can’t fend for himself and he’s testing our patience to the limit,” confirmed garda Coggin.
