People Before Profit Manifesto Just Names & Addresses Of Ireland’s Richest People
PEOPLE BEFORE PROFIT launched their manifesto today in an effort to show Irish voters there is a leftwing alternative to Sinn Féin and an end to the Fianna Fáil/Fine Gael status-quo, and WWN was there to take it all in.
The manifesto, a handful pages, caused confusion among assembled journalists as it consisted solely of the names and addresses of Ireland’s richest people.
“Where’s the usual mental stuff like a 4-day week for workers, close tax loopholes for multi-nationals, end subsidies to private schools, ending carbon tax and taxing big polluters instead?” one journalist in attendance queried.
Asked what was the intended meaning behind the rich list, party leader Richard Boyd Barrett simply raised his eyebrows several times while maintaining an intense gaze.
“This is our housing policy, this is also our health policy, our environment policy and our economic and crime policies,” insisted Boyd Barrett, when persistently asked by reporters for an outline of policies.
On closer inspection the manifesto also had a QR code on the back with presumably should have directed voters to the party’s website but instead led to online shop which specialised in baseball bats, cable ties, black sacks, shovels and a list of locations of the least frequented and isolated hilltops of Ireland.
