“It’s Our Turn To Let Down & Disappoint Voters While Compromising Everything We Allegedly Stand For”

AS PART OF our WWN Opinion series we give a platform to people we really shouldn’t. This week is the turn of Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald and her party colleagues who make a compelling argument for letting their party lead the next government.

“PLEASE, c’mon, you hate the government and paying through the nose for stuff and then not having enough money to pay for other things which are also prohibitively expensive.

Why can’t we have a go? Go on, it’s our turn to let you down and disappoint voters while comprising everything we allegedly stand for. It’s not fair FF/FG get to display how morally bankrupt they are and how their spines are made of jelly through forming actual government policy. When will it be someone else’s turn?

Letting the same two parties be the ones to guide the nation’s riches to a select few while shitting on those with nothing is incredibly shortsighted. Other parties are capable of doing this, it’s Sinn Féin’s turn.

Labour cut the dole for under 25s during the recession and raised college fees despite pledging to abolish them. Oh, what I wouldn’t give for the same opportunity; to have our core support absolutely livid with something we did in government. It’d be a welcome change from them being annoyed at us while we’re still only in opposition. Where’s the fun in that?

Our countless u-turns, clarifications and re-clarifications on immigration policy is no more incoherent than Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil’s so what’s the harm?

You think the health service is in shite state now? What do you think we’re going to do, replace nurses with the plague? We’ll be bad for every major issue facing this country in a slightly different way, and that’s much more fun than the same old faces, no?

Please, add a little spice to your lives. Change is as good as a rest. If you’re not happy with us now, imagine how much rage can flow freely through you after we miss housing targets, it’ll feel so fresh and new!”
