FOLLOWING the issuing of an apology to the 16-year-old who received inappropriate texts from disgraced former Sinn Féin senator Niall Ó Donnghaile for her glowing statement about the Senator at the time of his resignation, Mary Lou McDonald has adopted an innovative approach to future apologies.

“The vocal chords are exhausted from all the statements, apologies, updated statements with clarifications and apologies for initial apologies, Mary Lou needs to rest her voice while on the campaign trail,” explained one Sinn Féin official unveiling the ‘I’m Sorry’ placard McDonald will carry with her from now on.

“Who knows what we as a party will have to apologise for and when, which person we let down we meet out and about knocking on doors, this is just the sort of sensible sort of move Sinn Féin will bring to government,” added the official.

“I don’t know why we didn’t think of this earlier, it works for everything; a party’s internal procedures being a mess, u-turns on previous policies, breaking wind and this Halloween’s Love Actually costume,” outlined the official.

Meanwhile, anyone expecting McDonald’s move would see similar approaches adopted by other leaders have been left disappointed by the news Taoiseach Simon Harris and Tánaiste Micheál Martin will carry around ‘whatever it is, it’s your fault not mine and you deserve it!’ signs.
